Back in May of 2024 we had a visit from Brent from the Chicago based gypsy brewery St. Errant Brewing. It was a re-visit of sorts, since our former brewer, Mariana, did an Amager collab with Brent in Chicago a few years back – the IPA named ‘Ølfrygt’.
For Brent’s collab day here at Amager, we went for something entirely different, though. A potent, big and beautiful English Style Barley Wine – complete with Maris Otter malt and East Kent Goldings hops. And then we used a malt that Brent is very fond of: Double Roast Crystal from Simpsons. A malt that adds heavy caramel notes and imparts raisin like flavors without adding roasty bitterness to the beer.
Brent agreed to the name ‘Heartless Bastards’ (which btw, is also the name of a great band) and we had him, and our head brewer Jacob pose as heartless and bastardly as they possibly could. Well, judge for yourself!
The label brings you the odd – yet entirely truthful – story of the Heartless Bastard gang. A gang lesser known than The Peaky Blinders, but in their time just as notorious….
