The wort in FWK Creative Ekstra Lys is brewed with 75% Pilsner malt and 25% flaked maize. Magnum hops are used at 60 minutes of the boil, and Perle is added in the whirlpool during brewing.
You can decide whether to add water based on your desired outcome.
Endless Possibilities for Experimentation!
Here are some ideas:
- Hops: Add any hops of your choice for extra aroma.
- Souring: Use Philly Sour yeast.
- Low-carb: Add Amigase for full attenuation.
- Gluten-reduced: Add Brewer’s Clarex.
- Increased strength: Skip adding water or add extra fermentable sugars (e.g., malt extract).
- Lactose: Enhances smoothness and sweetness.
- Other additions: Vanilla, coriander/spices, lemon/lime/orange peel.
Hop and Yeast Suggestions:
We encourage experimentation, but it can be helpful to have some concrete suggestions. Here are some ideas:
- Pilsner: Use Saflager S-189/W34/70 yeast, or for a crisper, more flavorful pilsner, try LalBrew Diamond Lager.
- Corona-style Pilsner: Ferment with WLP940 Mexican Lager at 10-13°C—no additional hop additions needed.
- Sour: Create a fresh sour by pitching Philly Sour, letting it work for 3-4 days, then adding US-05 yeast. Flavor with fruit purées like raspberry or passion fruit—sour fruits pair exceptionally well!
- IPL (India Pale Lager): Ferment with NovaLager and dry-hop with Citra and/or Mosaic. Alternatively, try Cascade and Amarillo.
- American Blonde Ale: Use US-05 yeast and dry-hop with 100g of Citra, Mosaic, or El Dorado for a fun twist!
- Belgian Blonde: Use Fermentis BE-256 or Lallemand Farmhouse yeast. Experiment with coriander and orange peel for a unique flavor profile.
FWK Creative is also excellent for using up leftover hops!
Read about each hop’s aroma profile and choose combinations that sound appealing—this is fun, and you’ll often be surprised by new hop pairings!
